Dead Lizard

The Tale of the Dead Lizard – Jeff was walking down a path to clear his mind after an emotional meeting regarding a veteran who had tragically taken his life. While lost in thought and with music coming through his headphones, he encountered a flattened lizard on the ground that had been there for some time. At that moment the song "Under the Graveyard" by Ozzy Osbourn came through with clarity. This flattened lizard long dead was nothing more than dried skin and bones and had been there so long no one noticed it.  Jeff's thoughts immediately returned to the meeting, serving as a distressing reminder of the consequences when someone decides to end their life after a while they are just like that Dead Lizard.

The text below combines lyrics Jeff heard that day with a poignant message he had encountered before about death. Jeff came across the following statement by Ozzy & Sharon while researching the lyrics.

Underneath the graveyard lies our decaying bones. Everything you were, are, and will be fades away. When you end it, everything is gone, nothing goes with you, emptiness. You feel and refuse to live this falsehood, you can't endure it any longer. The grave is cold, in the end we all die alone.

“The darkness of life can be changed with a helping hand, spirituality, and with love; it can change everything.”
